Online Craps Lesson 1:The Pass Line

For those of you new to online craps, it can be a bit of a daunting experience. So many betting options and so many opportunities to win or lose but just how do you get started. That’s a very good question that I hope to clear up for all of you with the next series of posts. I will be explaining what certain sections of the table stand for and how to place your bets for that section. Today I am focusing on the Pass Line section of the craps table which is a great starting point.
Getting Started
So you have a craps table in front of you and you’re wondering what to do next. Well, to dissipate some of those fears about the table remember that you don’t have to know each and every bet on the table to play successfully. Here are a few betting options that you can use when getting started.
Pass Line
The Pass Line is the betting area that wraps itself around the table and is considered the most basic bet on the table. Knowing the ins and outs of this bet is a good start and can get you through quite a few rounds.
First, place a bet on the come out roll (first roll of the dice), you’ll know it’s a come out roll when the black marker is on the table labeled “off”. If the come out roll turns out to be a 7 or 11 then you win even money. If it should be a 2,3,or 12, then you lose. If any other total should be rolled then that total will be considered the “Point”. The point will be your guide for the next rolls and the marker will now be switched to “on” and will be placed on that number. Now your objective is to shoot the dice until you roll your point amount or a 7. The key is that you must roll the point amount first in order to win even money; if the 7 should come first then you lose.
This is a very basic bet and probably one you should stick to until you learn the others. Next week I’ll be posting Lesson 2 with more information on how to work your way around a craps table effectively.
